What issues should be paid attention to when using immersion heaters?

2025-04-10

The following issues need to be paid attention to when using immersion heaters.

immersion heaters

‌1. Prevent dry burning ‌

The heating part of the immersion heater is in direct contact with the medium. If the medium is heated and the heater continues to heat, the surface temperature of the heater will rise, and even damage the heating tube. Therefore, be sure to confirm the liquid level of the medium before use, and do not let the heater work in a state of no medium or low liquid level. ‌

‌2. Choose a suitable medium ‌

Different media have different requirements for the heating tube of the immersion heater, such as corrosion resistance and not easy to scale. If an inappropriate medium is selected, it will affect the service life of the heater. ‌

‌3. Ensure leakage protection ‌

The immersion heater uses electric energy for heating. If there is no good leakage protection, it will not only affect the safety of the heater, but also the risk of leakage. Therefore, when purchasing an immersion heater, be sure to choose a product with leakage protection function and strengthen the grounding protection of the circuit. ‌

4. Temperature control

When using an immersion heater, temperature control must be performed to prevent the medium temperature from exceeding the design range and causing safety accidents. A temperature controller or electronic thermometer can be used to monitor and adjust the heater regularly.

5. Regular cleaning and maintenance

After the immersion heater has been used for a period of time, scaling is likely to form on the surface of the heating tube, affecting the heating effect and service life. Therefore, the user should clean and maintain the heater regularly to ensure its normal use.

6. Prevent heat concentration

When using an immersion tubular oil-electric heater, the voltage should be reduced when melting solid oils such as asphalt and paraffin, and then increased to the rated voltage after melting to prevent heat concentration from reducing the service life of the component.

7. Ensure effective grounding

The operating voltage should not be greater than 1.1 times the rated value, and the housing should be effectively grounded. The insulation resistance should be ≥1MΩ, and the dielectric strength should be 2KV/1min.

‌8. Fix the electric heating tube‌

The electric heating tube should be positioned and fixed, and the effective heating area must be completely immersed in liquid or metal solid. Empty burning is strictly prohibited. If scale or carbon is found on the surface of the tube, it should be cleaned in time before use‌.
